The xBox 360 is generally though of as the superior gaming platform among gaming enthusiasts for both its universal popularity and realistic graphics. Since the launch of the first XBox model several years ago, Microsoft’s gaming platform has improved over the years and a slew of great games have been released every year.

As anyone inside the XBox 360 gaming community will tell you, all is not perfect. Since the release of the initial model of the X360, the gaming unit has been plagued by what has become commonly known as the “Xbox 360 3 Red Lights” problem (aka “the Red Ring of Death”). There no mistaking when you have been hit by this problem because your game freezes and you’ll see 3 flashing red lights on the front of the xbox console.

What this means is that there has been a hardware failure inside the xBox 360. It can get so hot inside the xbox that solder joints can soften and other internal components can suffer permanent damage causing the 3 flashing red lights that you see on the front of the xbox console. If you let you xbox cool down for an hour or so then power it back up and you still have 3 flashing red lights, you’ll know the damage is probably permanent. Sometimes, just turning off the xbox for an hour or so to let it cool down then turning it back on will get rid of the 3 red lights. If this doesn’t work for you, you’ll either have to send it out for repair or try the fix it yourself route.

Many people who have considered themselves “mechanically challenged” have successfully repaired the xbox 360 3 red lights problem themselves. If you are a “do-it-yourselfer” there are several repair guides you can download from the internet that take you through the repair process step-by-step (including videos). The huge advantage of going the do it yourself route for the XBox 360 3 Red Lights problem is that you can be back up and playing your favorite game in about an hour or so.
