If you have a broken Xbox 360 then it is probably flashing some code of red lights that tells you what is wrong with it. Here is a short description of what could be wrong with your Xbox 360:

Xbox 360 1 Red Light: If you see 1 Red Light, you can blame the scaler chip and will need to have this repaired. You may also get a message on the screen saying E74 error or some other E reference.

Xbox 360 2 Red Lights: This is overheating of the motherboard and to fix this you can try giving the console a good dust out and making sure that it is getting enough air.

Xbox 360 3 Red Lights: 3 Red Lights is the most common error and it means that you have a general hardware failure. If you experience this, it could be an overheating problem with the CPU or GPU. One more thing that needs to be repaired.

Xbox 360 4 Red Lights: 4 Red Lights is normally just the AV cable that is not plugged in correctly. To fix this, all you have to do is make sure it is plugged in firmly to your TV and the console, and it will work for you.

How do you fix your Xbox 360 once you have figured out what is wrong with it?

You really have 2 choices. You can either send it back to Microsoft and they will fix it for you, this is a good choice. The only bad thing about this is the waiting time and you can expect to wait for 6 weeks for a fix.

You can also use the XBox 360 Repair Guide to fix this which is a mix of text files and videos explaining how to avoid over heating.

The guide also explains fixes in layman’s terms for those of you who are not so technical in the fix department.

Many gamers have been able to fix their Xbox 360 in a matter of minutes using this guide.
