Now, the even the presentation of games is undergoing some new and exciting changes. Monitor improvement is one avenue taken for more advanced gaming technology. The concept of a visor for your gaming experience is nothing new, although new efforts are still being made. The drive to create a visor is diminishing, though, and giving way to motion-sensitive monitor technology.

Basically, this means that by literally moving your actual arms, legs, and head is “sensed” by your screen and in turn moves your virtual arms, legs, and head. Motion control is still in the initial stages of development. But when it comes to computer gaming most gamers prefer the trusty mouse and keyboard.

People will adapt to new control schemes as the technology develops and becomes more common. Gaming has gone beyond just a geeky hobby, it’s become a storytelling medium and an educational tool. An entirely new age of gaming is just around the corner as advancements in new high-tech programs and equipment emerge every day. The generic term “Computer Gaming” covers all types of games played on computers.  It should be pointed out that there is a distinction between “Online gaming” and “Video Gaming”. “Online Gaming” frequently involves “MMORPGs” - Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games - where you log in to a virtual arena and join a large contest involving several others, perhaps running to hundreds at a time. Video Gaming is usually played in private at home, perhaps on your own or maybe with family or friends on a totally local basis, with games on your own computer which you probably purchased by downloading, bought in a box from your local Video Games retailer or on eBay or even swapped with your friends. A great many of you will have played a Video Game at some time in your life but several will not yet have experienced MMORPGs. The wider social contact of MMORPGs seems to be a factor more likely to push people to addiction according to research; but not always!

There’s some good news: quoted by BBC News, Keith Bakker, founder and principal of Europe’s first clinic to treat gaming addicts, reckons that 90 per cent of young people seeking treatment for compulsive computer gaming are not in fact addicted.

The Smith & Jones Centre in Amsterdam has treated hundreds of young gamers from all over the world since the clinic opened in 2006; but the clinic is changing its treatment as it realizes that compulsive gaming is a social rather than a psychological problem.

Research was carried out in 2007 by The American Psychological Association to find out if computer video game addiction should be recognized as a disorder for inclusion in the new Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders due for publication in 2012.  They concluded that there was insufficient evidence to show that video game addiction is a disorder.

Is your Xbox 360 broken? The Xbox is a powerful HD console and like most things electronic is great when it works. Unfortunately the sleek design causes a common overheating issue. However this is easy to fix and cheap to do so also. This is depicted by all lights around the power button flashing red.

The ring of death can depict a large number of faults and you should confirm if the fault is caused by overheating using the fault control feature installed within the Xbox or one of the many troubleshooting guides, starting with the one in the manual.

I should note that this repair should only be undertaken if your Xbox is out of warranty as performing this repair will invalidate it if not.

The first step is to remove the case there are various videos on the web which will show you how to do this, it is a case of pressing on several small clips located around the case.

The next thing to do is remove the screw from the metal casing revealed when the outer case was removed. For this you will require a T9 torque drive, this is a screwdriver with a star shaped head. After the removal of these screws half of the metal case will lift off revealing the motherboard. The next step is to disconnect the DVD drive and the power cable for the fans. Once this has been the done the motherboard will lift out from the other half of the metal case.

Next flip over the motherboard to reveal two x-clamps, once these have been removed the heat sinks will lift away from the board. Under these heat sinks there are three processors use alcohol rub to clean them up, once clean apply some thermal compound to each ensuring that the whole of the processor is coated and that the coating is even.

To solve the problem the heat sinks should be firmly attached to the board you should do this using screws instead of the clamps.

If you have an Xbox, you probably want to stay away from the red ring of death and have heard of weird ways of fixing it like the Towel Trick. The “trick” behind the Towel Trick is that you wrap a towel around your Xbox so it gets hot enough to somehow get rid of the red ring of death. Here is the truth and nothing but the truth. The towel trick will work for a few days, but only a few days. What you are doing is actually damaging the Xbox 360 to a point where it can no longer be repaired ever again. But don’t take my word for it, let me explain to you why.

The reason why the red ring of death happens has to do with the soldering joints inside the Xbox underneath the chips. Microsoft was trying to be green and mainly cut costs by using a cheaper soldering material. When the Xbox 360 heats up, the soldering joints expand because it is made of some sort of metal. It’s supposed to expand with heat, but the issue has to do when it cools down. What happens is that air bubbles start to form inside the soldering joints and it known as cold solder joints. Just like a computer is supposed to heat up and cool down, it creates a crack under the chips with cause the red ring of death.

This is why the Xbox 360 towel trick will just make things worse.

The towel trick only works for a few days because it gets so hot that it melts the solder joints but creates more cracks down the line. The cracks that form are hairline cracks and it is just enough so that energy cannot be passed from the board to the chips.

I get approached all the time about 360FixKit and if it really works for their Xbox 360. People are naturally skeptical on whether or not something lives up to it’s claim. So I can understand when people were unsure if 360FixKit could fix their Xbox 360 in just a matter of an hour or so. I made sureI had all the information about the RROD and 360FixKit before I made any decisions. I first looked at the 360FixKit site and I was impressed with how it looked. It looked really professional. I went with 360FixKit and decided to give it a shot and see how it went.

The problems below were the issues I was having when trying to run my Xbox 360. - The Red Ring of Death Xbox that had the 3 lights flashing at the same time. - My disc kept on sticking to the disc try every time I would pull it out. I was expecting an outsourcer from another country or a response that took 3 weeks to get back to me, but to my surprise, their support was extremely helpful. Thanks to the help of the 360FixKit tech support, I fixed the Xbox ring of death on my 360.

Assassin’s Creed 2

This is the one I am personally waiting just one more day to get simply because I really enjoyed playing the first one through. They have made a lot of major improvements to this game. For the second game they have made the missions a bit different which is good as it was starting to get a bit boring in number 1. You are able to possess two hidden blades that can kill two people at once as well as being able to take the enemy’s weapons and climb 2X faster than you can in the first game. The great thing about this game is that now when you fall into the water you do not die, you can swim!

The Ballad Of Gay Tony

This is the second DLC that has actually come into GTA IV. I have actually mannaged to play this game throuigh and although it is a lot shorter than the main game it is a lot better. The missions are better, the vehicles are improved and there are now parachutes! There are still no planes you can fly around in, remember the boeing in San Andreas. However it does have that feel of Vice City which was easily the best game that has been made for the franchise.

On top of all of these great games there are more out next year such as Splinter Cell, Final Fantasy and finally Alan Wake. It is also worth thinking about Project Natal.

Toys and games seem to be getting more and more popular as each year passes by which is why you should consider looking into a toy review before you buy anything. It can be very important that you get those boys toys right.

Modern Warfare 2

This game has been named as the best game of the decade when it really isnt and in my opinion does not deserve this title at all. Although this is a game you have to own simply because it is a brilliant game there is no way on earth that this game should be called the game of the decade. The Halo and Gears story is much better and last much longer and you can tell it was made for the multiplayer. In my opinion there is no way that this multiplayer is anywhere near as good as Halo 3 and Gears 2 it just feels the same as the older games.

Borderlands

I was really not too sure on this one when I purchased it as when looking at the game it is all made to look cell shaded. Usually these games tend to be a bit bad. The only real problem to the game was that it didnt have much of an ending but who needs that when you have 250,000 weapon variations. I have to say that I loved this game as every single gun that I found was really different to the last.

This really is just part one of the games you need to look into buying this side of Christmas. Some women may call all of these boys toys but I have to say my girlfriend loves kicking ass on Modern Warfare. There are actually quite a lot of sites where you can find the new toys reviews.

Dragon Age Origins

This game has been overlooked by a lot people as it just kinda snuck in on the odd week nothing big was out. There has not been enough press around this game. The game itself is made by Bioware who are of course the people behind Mass Effect. This is their new games based entirely on a brand new world that they had spent years thinking up. This game is going to take over your life as it takes around 150 hours to complete and this is not including DLC but the only issue is that the graphics arent brilliant. A fantastic game without a doubt.

Left 4 Dead 2

This game seemed to anger a lot of people as it only took a year to make which is a lot less than it takes to make most games. I have to say for less than a years devlopment this game is brilliant? The really cool thing is that this game has improved graphics, better weapons and bad ass zombies! Many levels are now set in the middle of the day which actually prove to be the best levels in the entire game and there is nothing more satisfying than hearing a large thump as you hit a zombie round the head with a frying pan.

The second pair can be accessed through vent holes at the top and the final two can be reached by removing the feet from the back of the console.
