Peter Molyneux (born in 1959 in Guildford, Surrey, UK) is considered one of the world’s best computer game developers. An adjective regularly used is “inventive”. He is remembered especially for games like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, and Black & White. His one downfall is that he sometimes over-hypes games while they are still being created. In some cases the game meets the hype, but in most (?) cases they are not as good as Peter suggests.

A well known example of this was the 2004 release of Fable. Now that Fable 2 is in play on machines everywhere, what can be said for Peter? Is Fable 2 a retread of Fable? Was it over-hyped?

Some would say that Fable 2 is, indeed, much more than Fable was. It is a better rendition. Where Fable’s combat was criticized a lot, Fable 2’s will most likely satisfy both advanced and casual players. And then there is the dog! Yes, a mutt. One that you get to rescue, and have as a companion.

You will probably love the new combat system in Fable 2, and Xbox LIVE will add a new experience.

PC World says, “Fable II is Peter Molyneux’s Smartest Game Yet.”, and “… his (Peter’s) work on Fable II, clear evidence of a mature designer who’s finally figured out how to extricate pathos from all that whiz-bang …”

On November 7, 2008, Microsoft will release Gears of War 2 for the XBOX 360. It promises to be one of the most popular and most talked about video games of the holiday season. Not since the original Gears of War was released has a game had this much anticipation for release. The action in the game is frenetic and the controls of the game are some of the best seen in action games such as this.

For those who have not been a fan so far of the Gears of War franchise, it is a third person   by Epic Games for Microsoft Studios. It can be played only on XBOX 360 since it is an exclusive game to Microsoft. The original Gears of War was finally released on the PC for the Windows operating system. To power the game's considerable graphics and gameplay, it relies on a modified version of the Unreal 3 engine.

The game play revolves around COG Delta squad lead by Marcus Felix. Their goal is simply to stop the Locust Horde from destrying humanity and taking over the world. The storyline of Gears of War 2 continues with you using the vast array of weapons to kill the Locust Horde with the help from your COG squad. The favorite weapon has been the machine gun/chainsaw combo that allows you to shoot down and saw your opponent.Gears of War 2 has a new feature that allows the player to use a downed opponent as a meat shield while you continue to shoot. Those that have seen previews of the game have enjoyed this new tactic available to the player. Killing the Locust Horde or your opponent has never been more thrilling.

Multi-player action will be what keeps players coming back to the game long after the single player campaign has been completed. This will keep the game being played well into 2009 as there are numerous map packs, 15 at last count, that you will be able to do combat in. The multi-player option has numerous games that will keep players interested. It has been reported that there will be three different on-line multi-player modes.” will be available. The player will also have the option for Co-op play with a friends or friends.

Gears of War2 is a game that a lot of fans of the original will be looking forward to. The violence and action level has been raised. The gameplay is easily as good as the first, if not improved. No other game is more anticipated for the XBOX 360 than Gears of War 2 during this holiday season. If you’re not a hermit living somewhere in the mountains in a cave then you’ve heard of the Nintendo Wii. Even though it’s been hard to find during the Christmas holiday it is a top seller. You can really burn some calories playing certain games too.

How do you get physical activity using a gaming console? Easy, the controllers are wireless and require you to move them around in order to make actions in the game happen. Searching for a PS3 on sale can be a daunting task.  I guess that enough people are still buying them that you don’t see them on sale often.  It can be discouraging if you’re trying to save a few bucks.

I feel your pain!  I have tried to justify the item in so many ways for so long.  I figured I could sell all my old PS2 games and console and start building a PS3 fund.  I’ve thought about going through my closet and digging out my old jeans to see what they might fetch on eBay.  I even cleaned out the garage scrounging for old tools and junk that I haven’t used in years so I could sell them on eBay.  I even once had a garage sale to sell all my old junk so I could fund the purchase of the PS3.  It netted me $52.  As an aside, garage sales are not the way to go!  I definitely recommend auctioning your old stuff off on eBay, you’ll make much more money.

In days gone by I felt the same way.  With all the available accessories, games and hi-tech features you really get more bang for your buck with the PS3.  The fact that it is Blu-Ray is a huge selling point for me.  Obviously, the games are awesome in HD and I just upgraded my Netflix membership to include Blu-Ray/HD movies as well.  Try selling that angle to the wife!  Once we went to HD with DirecTV, including the DVR, my wife was convinced and we hardly watch anything that is not in HD.  In the end it wasn’t that difficult to get her on my side for the PS3 purchase except when it came to the price.

I’ve been digging around for a while and I’ve discovered that to get the best price on the best game system that plays Blu-Ray you can’t get a better value than with a PS3.  Even when it’s not on sale!  The average Blu-Ray player will cost you $200-$250 but it doesn’t play games.  Unfortunately for Microsoft, HD-DVD was not the chosen format going forward and this will ultimately hurt their sales.  The challenge remains in getting the PS3 at a discount. 

I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there.  The value may be there but the overall cost is higher because of all the stuff they include.  The goal here is to spend as little money as possible, not more. 

Ultimately, I had to think outside the box.  I started investigating unique bid auction sites.  There are a few decent ones out there but the one that stands out to me is www.auctions4acause.com.  They have much more selection among everyday items than most of the other sites including the PS3.  The majority of the other sites like it zero in on really expensive things like cars, land and motorcycles.  You can pretty it up all you want but I just want the PS3!

I knew I had a winner when I found that site.  Two thumbs up as they had the exact item I wanted and I could get it for cheap.  I quickly setup an account on the site.  I rung up 3 bids and knew I had the lowest and unique bid.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get it the first time.  It was another couple of days before another one came up for auction.  I placed 3 more bids on it and crossed my fingers and waited.  Bingo!  The second time around I won.  7 days later I was playing Hot Shots Golf on my new PS3.  All told I had bid less than $59.64.  Not too bad if I say so myself.

It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style.  After you grasp the idea you could become addicted.  Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card.  In total I’ve spent about $350 there and won over $1,200 worth of stuff. 

I wouldn’t suggest the big box stores to find the best prices.  Create an account at Auctions4aCause and see what kind of deal you can get.

Right now there are three major gaming consoles on the market for you to choose from – the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3, and the Xbox 360. I have tested and written about both the Wii and the Playstation, so now it is time for an Xbox 360 console review.

Xbox 360 – A Complete Look

After I set it up I saw the Xbox 360 is a far cry from its predecessor. The original Xbox was big, black and boxy looking. The new unit is anything but. It is far smaller, although not as small as the Wii or Playstation, and white in color. For the first part of the Xbox 360 console review I give it a 4 out of 5 for appearance.

While appearance for some people is important, if you are a serious gamer then this is the least important thing. So let’s take a look into the next part of the Xbox 360 core console review and look at the titles that are available. This is not an Xbox 360 game review, but rather a look at the games you can get. The first thing that stands out for this Xbox 360 console review is that the Xbox is the only system that you can get Halo for. While it has been made available for the PC, the game play on the console is far superior. The Halo series is perhaps my favorite of all time and this is a big plus in favor of the Xbox. While the single player is fun, this game truly shines with the multiplayer options, but I will get into that in the next section. For game titles I give the Xbox 360 console review a 4 out of 5.

The next thing that is really important when you get a gaming is system is the multi player options. The original Xbox blew its competition out of the water, and while Playstation and the Wii are catching up the Xbox 360 is still leading the pack. You can find games easily; get content, and almost all of the games released for the system offer multiplayer support. The score for its multi player is a 5 out of 5. I find it hard to believe that they could improve on this much.

The Xbox 360 in my mind is the best system if you are looking for online action. Without even looking at the graphics or doing an Xbox 360 VGA review it shines. It does not have the fun aspect of the Wii and most of the games are more adult in flavor. The Wii owns the market in fun, interactive games. For non online adult games the Playstation 3 might have a slight edge, but if it does it is very slight and the Xbox 360 can keep up with in almost every regard.

PS3 has a memory card that can read SD cards and Compact Flash. Undeniably, the Play Station out-powers the Wii.
Graphics are usually better as-well. Just add a monitor, mouse and keyboard, and the PS3 becomes your PC.

When comparing the different features of Nintendo Wii and the Sony PlayStation 3, the PS3 has the most features for sure, especially for hard-core gamers. However, Wii has achieved higher sales. In fact, the combined sales of the PS3 and another competitor, the Microsoft Xbox 360, do not even come close to the sales volume of Nintendo Wii. Despite PS3’s better graphics and overall media, Wii remains the top seller among all game consoles. Perhaps it’s because of its limited supply on the market. However, since PS3 is more expensive, a lot of gamers prefer to get a Wii bundle package which is less costly, and includes much much more. I’m sure the revolutionary motion sensing technology of the Wii has a lot to do with it as well.

These are just some of the differences between the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3, but they are important ones. You must now make a decision.  Choose wisely and make sure that you choose the one that you can afford and one that you will enjoy playing without feeling like you made a mistake.
